So, this may seem very random...but in the last couple of weeks, I've had several discussions about prophesy, future, dream interpretation, etc., and I was wondering if you knew anything about it or had any experiences that would be good to share.
There are several people who, when they dream, I shut up and pay attention. One is my pastor's wife from Japan. She is a staunch woman of faith, and I have learned so much from her. She never seems like her dreams frighten her, or anything, but they seem very applicable to the situations we are going through. She has also seen visions.
Another girl that I worked with in Japan dreams fairly intensely as well, and she's been receiving a lot of dreams lately (it seems).
A third piece of the puzzle is that even people who would not say they were prophetic are saying things like, "I wonder how soon Japan will close its doors to the outside world again..." or "I wonder when the Japanese Lutheran Church will really die out..."
Is this spiritual warfare? Is it prophetic discernment? The only way I can think of responding is to pray and keep moving forward. Should it impact my decisions? How? Does it impact how we pray--is that the main goal of God sending the dreams?
Any thoughts? :)

YAY! I have internet again! wOoOt
ReplyDeleteWell, for what its worth, I've had dreams and visions that have become true. In one case I took it as a prophecy and actually had the guts to tell the person what God was saying, including the future event, and it happened as I saw it happen.
But then again, I know that when I was supposed to go to Concordia in NY I started having convincing dreams and such telling me not to go. I listened that time too. Looking back, I do feel that I disobeyed Him by not going, although, I know that I wasn't outside of His will even in my disobedience.
I would think this is spiritual warfare. And I think that you should stick with the first calling you received, to go to Japan. Hopefully you're not just subconsciously looking for a scapegoat. Only you can know.
I try to listen to comments people make throughout a day and incorporate them into my prayers for just this reason. Even though not every comment will be prophetic (or wise), I try to take the wisdom and discernment of my friends and family to God in prayer for two purposes:
1) For confirmation.
2) For diagnostics
Considering the spiritual battlefield that is Japan, and considering you're a (veteran) spiritual soldier, would you say you have done your training? Would you say you're armed for the fight? Are you prepared for the rigors of battle? You know you're drafted to this fight, but are you combat ready? Could this be what God is saying?
Sometimes, a lot of times in my life, God's most important messages are "return to basics." So how are you're basics? Prayer, study, fellowship, sacraments, etc. Could there be a connection with a call to pray, and the immensity of the task in Japan?
